Pet Urinary Medication and SuppliesPET URINARY HEALTHUrinary incontinence and bladder infections are not the first things that come to mind when you think of your pet and pet health, but maybe they should be. Pet urinary health is just as important as getting shots for your pet, giving your pet a healthy diet and making sure your pet gets enough exercise. Urinary incontinence and bladder infections in pets are more common that most people realize, particularly in female pets. Male pets often have more urinary problems as they age. But, first things first. What are we talking about? What is urinary incontinence? Urinary incontinence is urine leakage from your pet and it is involuntary. It is different from urinary issues linked to behavior problems or a simple lack of house training. If your pet is suffering from urinary incontinence, they may experience urine dribbling, be surrounded by a strong urine scent or have wet fur, near their privates or bottom. Urinary incontinence can be caused by something simple, like a pet consuming too much water or a weak bladder. It can also be caused by a bladder infection. Bladder infections and other urinary infections can occur at any age and can be very painful for your pet. If you've ever had one yourself, then you know! Luckily, they are easily treated with antibiotics. If your pet has chronic bladder infections, it may be a sign of a more serious problem. Consult your veterinarian if you have questions about pet urinary health or if you suspect that your pet suffers from urinary incontinence or a bladder infection.
